Stephen Michael Bennett has lived and worked in New Mexico since 1982. Historic restoration with lime-based plasters led him to develop this innovative approach to fresco. Bridging together traditional elements and techniques with modern materials. This modern fresco begins by compressing layers of lime-based plaster and fusing it to a reinforced concrete panel. This rugged construction is an excellent ground for a painting process known as fresco-secco. Oil and wax bind the graphite and mica powder as they interplay with the surface and below to enhance each unique piece. He has continued developing and refining this painting method since 2001.
